German Ambassador: 2019, year of good news for Kosovo relations

Germany's Ambassador to Belgrade Thomas Schieb has declared today that Germany with its European and American partners clearly tries to normalise relations between Serbia and Kosovo, Koha.net broadcasts.

It has shown hope that dialogue between the two countries will continue soon and that 2019 will be a year of good news.

„We strongly believe that the dialogue in which the EU is mediating will continue soon, Ambassador Schieb told Beta Agency.

He has stressed “that only dialogue can bring legally binding comprehensive agreements that even is the precondition for EU membership“.

This understands that the agreement must find solutions on all open issues that can be implemented in this case. It should be based on the principle of multiethnicity and on democratic standards to contribute to the stability of the region. That is why we regret all unilateral acts that endanger the renewed launch of the “dialogue, Schieb said.

The German ambassador has shown the conviction that “the prospect of EU membership is the best tool for promoting prosperity, peace, democracy and rule of law in the Western Balkan countries” and has added that he hopes negotiations with Serbia this year will have significant progress. /Periscopi
