The pill can disturb a woman's judgment and even affect her relationship, suggests research.
One study found that contraception causes significant emotional changes in the woman's brain, broadcasts news.
This makes it 10 percent less likely to be able to read the facial expressions and feelings of other people.
Although unclear why this happens, the impact of the pill on the woman's estrogen and progesterone levels is thought to affect her sensitivity.
The research was conducted by the University of Greifswald in Germany, led by Dr Alexander Lischke, by the Department of Biological and Clinical Psychology.
More than 100 million women worldwide use oral contraceptives, but very little is known of their effects on emotion, knowledge and behavior”, Dr Lischke said.
Dr. Lischke argues that at the top of contraceptives, many emphasis is paid to the benefits of the pill like that. Improved face and easing menstruation, but weaknesses are often overlooked.
The head of the study insists that more studies are needed to be carried out before there is any change in the way the drug is described.
