Serbian players from Crvena Zvezda's team were attacked this afternoon in Split, Croatia, while sitting in a cafe with their club fans.
Some youths went to them and began attacking them. Three players from the Serbian club team escaped, one of them being shot into the sea.
These are Crvena Zvezdas players who were expected to fight against Mornar of Croatia today, in the sport “water polo”, but they returned to Boegrad shortly after this incident.
At 13:40, Croatian police were notified of the attack, and now they are urging the five Croats who caused the incident. One of them was hurt and offered medical help, which he declined.
Serbian media report that the player who was shot at the sea was goalkeeper Alexander Krajl, and he came out of the water only when the police arrived.
Authorities responsible in Croatia have announced that the people who caused the incident were armed with dirty wooden knives and sticks.
