South Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri has handed the petition for the union of the town of Mitrovica to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, with a total of 16594 signatures.
Following the petition's surrender, Mitrovica's first man, Agim Bahtiri, said he has asked the president to take initiative and petition the Parliament to hand over, while the sooner a decision is made as Mitrovica citizens are disappointed with the injustice they are dealing with the city's division.
Bahtiri said the petition was supported by the president, the Speaker of the Parliament and other leaders besides the prime minister.
He urged Prime Minister Haradinaj to address this petition seriously.
The “is also suggesting to the prime minister that Mitrovica is united and will be strongly united and the sooner the previous decision is abolished”, he said.
Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri has also handed over the petition to Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, chief Parliamentary Kadri Veseli.
