“The AAK branch in Pec will work diligently on the institutional line that this project is not implemented and any action undertaken will be required to be cancelled”, said the party's official announcement.
Full reaction from the AAK branch in Pec:
The AAK branch in Pec has reviewed the project approved as a strategic investment in the construction of Hidro power plant in the course of the Peja Lumbard.
The AAK opposes the possible realisation of this project because this project undermines the environment, flora and wildlife in this part and also jeopardises the development of tourism as the strategic branch of economic development of the Pec Community.
Meeting the energy needs that our country currently has is becoming reality with investing in the New Kosovo thermal power plant, while meeting the criteria Kosovo must realise for renewable energy now with investments in solar energy and wind only to take its form.
The construction of hydrocentrals on Lumbare in the Rugova area cannot be argued under any circumstances because this project is vital for the citizens of the Peja municipality and on the other hand seriously harms our municipality's environment and strategic goals.
The AAK branch in Pec will work persistently on the institutional line that this project is not realised and any action undertaken will be required to be cancelled.
The AAK branch in Pec invites all citizens to have confidence in the country's institutions and not to worry that such a project that harms the interests of the residents of our municipality will not be realised.
From the water flow of Peja's Lumbard is being planned to produce alternative energy with the construction of a hydropower plant, similar to that of Decani.
A government inter-ministerial commission, made up of some ministries, has again undertaken the initiative to build hydropower plants on the Lumbardshi bed.
This commission plans to certified a foreign investor from Austria, which will invest 97m euros in the project.
Against this investment is the municipality of Peja, which had prevented its implementation in 2013.
According to Engelbert Zefajt, spokesperson for the Peja municipality, the municipality has not been aware of reactualisation of this project, which, he says, this time can't stop even Chairman Gazmend Muhhajeri.
They are also citizens who say that a natural beauty they have always exploited should not be destroyed.
Civil society in this municipality is also opposed to this project.
