All of this is two weeks after a colored alcoholic drink had claimed the lives of more than 100 people in the northern states of Utarpradesh and Utarakhand. The number of victims in the latest case, according to local reports, is expected to increase.
According to police, 58 people had lost their lives as a result of the consumption of illegal alcohol, while another 12 as a result of the consumption of toxic liquor. Illegal - produced alcohol victims, far cheaper than controlled beverages, are common in India.
An investigative commission has been set up to review cases, while police say they have arrested a person who had sold alcohol, while two officials were suspended after not taking necessary measures to prevent its sale.
