Marin, 34, will take office next week after the resignation of Antie Rine, Reuters reports.
The AP writes she will be the third woman to head the Finnish government.
Earlier this week, Rine resigned after the Coalition Central Party announced that it had lost confidence in it due to a series of strikes.
A lot of work is waiting for us to rebuild trust. We have a joint government programme that keeps the coalition together, “said Marin reporters after a tight vote by the party leadership.
Another candidate for prime minister was Anti Lintman, leader of the Social Democrat Party parliamentary group. Marin received 32 votes and Lintman 29 votes.
She is deputy chairman of the Social Democrat Party, a member of Parliament since 2015, and has been minister of transportation and Links until this week.
