Joshua Cheptegei broke the world record 10km road in Valencia, setting a new time of 26 minutes and 38 seconds.
The 23-year-old broke his previous record in six seconds, which was set in 2010 by Leonard Common of Kenya.
Uganda's Cheptegei was crowned world champion in Doha in October after winning the 10km world title in Denmark in Mars.
In 2018 he ran 41 minutes and five seconds to Niymegen, Holland, to break the world record of 15km.
The average rate of Cheptegei was two minutes and 40 seconds per mile in Valencia, passing 5km in 13 minutes 24 seconds.
“What year it was,” he said. “I can't believe it.
I knew Valentine's would be a really fast course, one of the fastest in the world. So to get what we got here is something special. ”
