A motion was even filed in this state's parliament, calling for the investigation of the case, because preliminary investigations by security bodies did not produce evidence.
And the issue has been reacted to by incumbent Kosovo Minister Behgjet Pacolli.
Through a Facebook post, Pacolli has said all the rumors were initiated by an MP in Maldive who was paid by Belgrade.
“Belgrade was not supported by anyone in the Maldive Parliament and ended up like a crow's ties. We Kosovars are lifely grateful to Kosovo guests”, he wrote.
My “Mic Ahmet Shahed, former minister of foreign affairs of Maldives, currently in the role of UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran. Checked remains my and Kosovo's great friend on his way to the civilized world. The rumors initiated by an MP in Maldives paid by Belgrade were not backed by anyone in the Maldive Parliament and ended up as though a crow's scratch. We Kosovars are lifely grateful to Kosovo guests”, Pacolli wrote.
Otherwise, always according to what was reported in the state press, police had failed to find evidence that the former foreign minister has received such a sum to recognise Kosovo.
Furthermore, the motion submitted to this state's parliament also quoted Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli's statements, through which they claim the same one has acknowledged spending money on the best lobby of the number of countries that have recognised Kosovo.
According to the motion, the fact that complete investigation has not been carried out on this case should be brought back to the attention of the Maldive Parliament and the citizens of this country.
Even the requests put forward in this motion go further; it requires that the decision on recognising Kosovo be revised, if such action has been taken in line with international standards.
