Four others escaped without injuries. Police and guards searched the location where the partner fell after allegedly more people were stuck in the snow.
A police spokesman said the avalanche was huge enough. The German DPA agency has reported that the huge snow that has fallen in recent days has raised avalanche risk levels to the third degree, implying a major danger.
The two injured were transported by helicopter to the hospital.
