In an interview for Bosnian television “O Kanal”, Albania's President Ilir Meta, has indicated that Serbia should stop the campaign against Kosovo integration in regional initiatives or international institutions.
“One example is Interpol membership as well. All in the region are aware that organised crime is one of the main problems in all our countries, and Kosovo's membership in Interpol helps Kosovo's co-operation, not only with Interpol, but for the entire region is a contribution to fighting organised crime from this region. I don't understand why Serbia would take such a position, according to me, not very reasonable and not constructive. However, I believe in dialogue, in partnership and I hope that the parties will soon sit at the table of dialogue and we are strongly pro-relaunching the full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia”, Meta said, broadcast A2news.
Meta was also asked about Mini Schengen, saying that initiatives that help our co-operation are always welcome, but not by provoking unnecessary debates.
Any regional co-operation platform, which is inclusive, is welcome. This should be a precondition to promote and consider regional promising and constructive initiatives. The initiative that helps our co-operation is always welcome, but not by provoking unnecessary debates, by trying to marginalise someone or a country, or by giving protagonism to someone else. Only partnership and inclusion can boost trust among countries, among people and can reduce and eliminate all barriers, be they legal, administrative or bureaucratic in our region”, Albania's president, Meta, said.
