The democratic leaders urged the lawmakers of “to call their conscience” before voting.
Donald Trump is the fourth US president to face the dismissal process.
He faces two counts: abuse of power and obstructing the work of Congress.
President Trump allegedly asked his Ukrainian counterpart for help to investigate his potential challenger in the 2020 elections, Joe Biden.
He is also accused of obstructing the work of Congress, as lawmakers say he has not co-operated in the investigation process.
Trump denies any wrongdoing, but seeking help from abroad to win US elections is an illegal act.
Republicans have made efforts to block the process, calling it an illegal attack on the president.
