The ship was called “Fiscardo” in honour of a nearby fishing port. The remains were found during a sea search, using sonar images around Chefalonia Island, reports the Journal of Archaeological Sciences.
It turns out that Fiscardo is one of the four biggest remains found in the Mediterranean Sea and dates back to this era, the Kosovo Press broadcast.
A team of experts in marine geology, underwater archaeology, oceanography, and prehistoric examined remains to determine the period in which they were used, and found that the remains of the ship date back to the period between the first century Christ and the post - Christ century.
Olives, cereals, and amphoras were found on ships that were in good condition and had about 6,000 sosh on board at the time of shipwreck.
The ship is 34m long and 13m wide. It is not yet determined if it is recovered from the bottom of the sea.
And her half was buried in the seat, so we have high hopes that if we start digging, in the future we'll find some or all of the body of wood,” said one of the researchers on the team.
