53 people have died as a result of the measles crisis, 48 of them children under the age of four, said the new government statement, broadcast Periscopi from Independent.
According to official statistics, more than 50 percent of the 29 thousand children from 6 months to four years of age have been identified as the most exposed group and have not yet been vaccinated.
There were about 3728 confirmed cases Monday, with 198 new cases recorded only during Sunday day.
In total, about 58 thousand people have been vaccinated since the launch of the mass inoculation campaign on November 20th.
The outbreak of the epidemic is believed to have begun in New Zealand, with cases confirmed even in neighboring countries like Australia, Tonga, and Fiji.
Parents have received strict instructions to keep their children at home and away from public gatherings, such as church Masses or Christmas events. /Periscope
