EU Office Seeks Justice for Family Violence Victims

Domestic violence continues to remain among the most disturbing phenomena in Kosovo, which is why responsible institutions are being called for, and also increased efforts to prevent this phenomenon. At a table organised by the Family Violence Co-ordinator's Office, data was released for the investigation of violence, where it was [...]
Annette Feth Lijic, from the European Union's Office in Kosovo, has asked relevant institutions to protect victims of domestic violence and punish those who perform such works.
“Love in the family is expressed everywhere not only in Kosovo, but also in the whole world. The need for justice is great for victims of domestic violence. Victims should be focused. They must feel they are not alone. The impunity of those who commit domestic violence is often a reality. Kosovo institutions have responsibility to protect their citizens in general, but victims of domestic violence in particular”, she has said.
In presenting the family database, Kosovo Police Public Security Division Director Gazmend Hoxha said all institutions should be together in combating domestic violence.
“Kosovo police have often been lonely on this road. Even sometimes we've been tried, and we've been convicted of failure and failure to do some work, but I mean it's one of the rare cases that the KP alone can't succeed. I think we need cooperation here and support from all institutions, we know that this phenomenon has to be fought in the family first, before it comes to institutions. The creation of this basic date is that wire connecting the link, links have existed, but have not been linked to”, he said.
And, the head of the Kosovo Judiciary Council, Makifete Salluka, said courts in case of domestic violence offer only temporary assistance through issuing defence orders, but that this phenomenon could be repeated after that time.
The courts in this case cannot offer permanent solutions because they issue protective orders, but there are times when these orders are violated. With this problem, all state institutions must be seriously addressed, with the goal of independence of the woman in particular and the particular emphasis of her economic independence, so that they are not obliged to endure systematic violence, with which they violate not only the physical integrity of women but also seriously violate their psychic integrity, often more serious than physical violence”, she said.
The recommendations of the country's institutions were given during this presentation so that more domestic violence could be worked out in the future. This activity was marked within 16 days of activism, which is one of the largest campaign against violence. /S. Pajazit/
