You know Caprio is a cute guy, isn't he? He gives money for the firehouse in Amazona”, Bolsonaro told his supporters recently, the AP reports.
Dicaprio's environmental organisation has pledged $5m in aid to protect the Amazon, as wild fires destroyed large parts of the forest in July and August.
The American actor and environmental activist has denied Bolsonaro's claims that he has financed organisations, though he believes they are worth supporting, reports the BBC.
The future of these irreplaceable ecosystems is threatened and I am proud to be part of the groups protecting them,” said DiCaprio.
He thanked the citizens of Brazil who work to preserve their natural and cultural heritage.
