Borrell-Stoltenberg: EU, NATO strengthen extraordinary co-operation

“NATO is the strongest military alliance in the world and will remain the common owner and European defence base,” said Josep Borrell.
At his first meeting as head of EU diplomacy, Borrell stressed with NATO Secretary General they agreed to continue strengthening co-operation in the future.
“Building a common European defence is not an option, but a contribution to relations NATO-EU,” said Borrell.
Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said it would continue to follow a policy of “co-operation and not competition” with NATO and the EU.
The security challenges we face are very complex for each nation individually. Neither NATO nor the EU have all the instruments needed for the security of our peoples. Only by working together, we can achieve a lot,” said Stoltenberg.
Stoltenberg said NATO allies at the London summit estimated that the Alliance and the EU have extraordinary co-operation, especially in the area of migration crisis and refugees, improving the will of mobility and fighting cyber threats and hybrids.
