The investigation has been launched for unclear sales practices that fan the number of cars sold, American media reports.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Department of Insurance and Exchange controls BMW trade practices to determine whether the company, with the help of authorised businessmen, is trying to replace “grace” data for the number of sold cars.
U.S. regulators suspect that the BMW has used sales data with the help of traders, with vendors sometimes buying vehicles from their stock and using them for rent.
Producers often offer them rewards for such practices in order to improve the number of cars sold, writes Business Journal.
The Security and Exchange Commission contacted us and we will fully co-operate in their investigation,” said a source for Wall Street.
