Albania takes over the OSCE presidency, Edi Rama: Historical Open

In Bratislava along with Prime Minister Edi Rama was incumbent Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj.

Rama said it is a major responsibility to lead this first-hand international organisation, but also an extraordinary opportunity to make Albania shine at the top of major jobs and specific OSCE challenges.

This is a historic moment and inspiration for Albania. We have made decisions as to our country's future as we see the future in the coming years, I hope our initiative with partners to continue co-operation. There are many key decisions with which we do not have stable agreements.

There are actually many issues dealing not only with political terms but also security. We also see at this table different approaches. We'll do our best to look forward. This is a historic moment and inspiration for our country. This relates to good relations with members and hospitality that characterize Albania. Another important element of Albania is religious harmony. Taking the presidency is an extraordinary step.

We will focus on implementing together the co-ordination of all our policies to increase our credibility. If you want peace in Europe, other elements must be implemented. By monitoring elections and supporting reforms, the work of the OSCE has been closely linked to people.

As for continuing dialogue, this is the only way to rebuild our trust. Corruption undermines the prosperity of the entire region, along with other threats. We will fight corruption.
