The amount of resources these families receive from the Kosovo government is between 50 and 150 euros a month, depending on the number of members.
Among them is the five-member Gashi family from Pristina. In a conversation for Radio Free Europe, Miradija, a mother of three, has shown that she receives 87 euros per month as social assistance and that this amount, according to her, is not enough to meet her family's basic needs.
And I try to save others for bread, and I can't buy anything else. My oldest son, he's looking for clothing, the little ones are looking for money when they started school, but I don't have it left at”, Miradija said.
That social assistance is insufficient for these families with a serious economic situation is constantly highlighted by economic experts and Kosovo institutions officials themselves.
Poverty continues to be one of the biggest problems facing citizens in Kosovo. Despite economic growth of about four percent, Kosovo continues to remain one of the poorest countries in Europe.
