Except for the factory, Musk said his company would build a centre for car engineering and design in the German capital. Earlier, Tesla had said it was intended to start car production in Europe in 2021.
This decision comes after the electric car company, which has invested a lot in a factory in China, is facing increased competition in the market of this type of cars because of other producers' plans to increase investments in electric cars.
Tesla's chief made the news known during a car-sharing ceremony in Germany. “Everyone knows that German engineering is extraordinary and that is one of the reasons we will build the factory in this country”, he said.
He announced that the factory will be built near the new Berlin airport and that model Y cars and car batteries will first be produced.
This company's decision to build the factory in Germany is also being assessed as a result of increased demand for electric cars in Europe. Besides Europe, Tesla has invested a lot in Asia. The company has allocated $2 billion for factory construction in Shanghai, writes “BBC”
