Chiefs of education in Los Rios discovered that the unnamed teacher is now suspended pending a high-level investigation into sexual harassment claims.
The decision was made after videos showing that the teacher carried a mobile phone under the edge of the student's dress made a big deal on social networks, writes The Sun
In the video he's seen preparing his cell phone and putting his arm under his chair as the student approaches.
He then crosses his phone closer and seems to move it up while it stays at his table carrying a school book.
Local media in Ecuador report that the education department has “disabled all necessary protocols” and is investigating the issue while supporting affected students.
The Ministry of Education is working on the issue and has reaffirmed that they have a zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment.
