In separate meetings with ten American lawmakers, the American Ode leadership has presented numerous developments in Kosovo. Among other things, these meetings have also been discussed for the greater promotion of Kosovo's economic potential by American lawmakers, and their possible organisation of trade delegations to Kosovo.
Over the course of two days, the US Oda delegation met congressmen Eliot Engel, Michael Guest, Dean Philips, Bill Flores, David Price, Mark Wayne Mullin, Adrian Smith, Mike Conaway and Tim Burchett.
The most important meeting was that of the senator from the state of Ajeva, Charles Grasley, chairman of the American Senate's Financial Committee, which covers the trade and tax fields.
Members of the American Oda Governors' Board have also discussed the need to continue the status of the General Preferences System (GSP) for Kosovo, which currently enables production companies from Kosovo duty-free export of over 3,500 products to the US, but also expands the list with other products.
The American Oda delegation has also been hosted at the State Department, the Office of Southeast European Affairs, where it has been discussed the need for Kosovo to demonstrate political stability, continue reforms to improve the business environment and promote free trade.
New funding opportunities for Kosovo companies after the establishment of the Development Financial Corporation (DFC) are discussed at the meeting with private Investment Corporation officials (OPIC).
After Washington, the American Economic Ode leader will travel to the American state of Minnesota to discuss the possibilities of economic co-operation with this country, in which a large number of companies from the “Fortune 500 pounds have their headquarters.
