Part of this event was Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2018 Dr. Denis Mukwege.
Mukwege from Congo said he has long waited to come to Kosovo and meet closely with victims of sexual torture.
According to him, 20 years after the war in Kosovo, no case has been convicted and for it is a negative message to violate.
”20 years after the war in Kosovo no case has been convicted and this is a negative message to victims of sexual violence. We all have to support those who suffer in their bodies. Justice has not only the role of punishment, but has the role of not repeating things and intervening the recovery of victims”.
We commend the Kosovo government for the amendment made to the 2014 law, and thanks to the KRCT. Thanks to this law these have the status of the victim and now they can benefit. You as journalists and we as a society need to support women and encourage those who go to the commission and tell the case”.
