Known journalist killed by bomb allegedly ordered to Albania

The French newspaper “The Sunday Times of Malta” reported that the device used in the murder of journalist Dafne Carwana Gallizia is believed to have been challenged by two brothers who are known as contacts in organised crime in Albania. Police are investigating the possibility that this is the source of the bomb placed in the [...] car.
Investigators believe that two of Malta's most dangerous <x0] criminals may have used their contacts in Albanian underground to buy a piece of the bomb used to kill journalist Daphne Carwana Gallizia.
Two sources involved in the investigation told The Sunday Times of Malta that parts of the explosive device used to kill the late journalist were almost identical “with the one used in a previous car bomb explosion in February 2017.
Sources said the device used in the attacks on Bonne and Carwana Gallizia was believed to have been challenged by the same suspects, two brothers who are well known in the Malthese underworld.
The brothers are known as people with contacts in organised crime in Albania, and police are investigating the possibility of this being the source of the bomb placed in the journalist's car. It was an Italian investigation that revealed the extent of the links of suspects to the Albanian underworld.
A senior investigative source said there were other information that made police believe the explosive device may have come from Eastern Europe, but said it could not discuss the issue at this point.
The source said the two suspects were believed to have some links to transnational crime. Sources said Europol officials who have visited Malta to analyse the evidence regarding the murder are helping them get close to the extradition of suspects believed to have bought the explosive device.
They are also helping to collect information from abroad. Meanwhile, explosive material, TNT, is believed to have been purchased from elsewhere and forensic evidence has led investigators to identify a queebub~ garage as the location where the bomb was finally mounted.
Thanks to the phone records, the two suspects who allegedly bought the explosive device are connected to this garage where the bomb was planted and are believed to be known associates of the Degiorgio brothers, Alfred and George, who are accused of committing the murder of Mrs. Carwana Gallizia along with Vincent Muscat.
Last month, The Sunday Times of Malta had reported how investigators believe a large businessman was among three possible suspects following the 53-year-old journalist's murder. /abcnews. al
