So said at the opening of 16-day activities against violence against women, with the motto “Standards implementation: ” change of mind in Gjilan.
Kurteshi Emini, leader of the Municipal Assembly in Gjilan, has said that domestic violence, unfortunately, is still in our society today, but the good news is that there is growing awareness of the reporting of cases.
She has said awareness campaigns are necessary to change the situation in a positive sense.
“Dunga in the family causes general damage to the development of a healthy family and an advanced society, so preventative activities of this ugly phenomenon” should be increased, she said.
In this direction, the positive effect has played the mechanism against domestic violence, said Lindita Salihu, official for gender equality.
Salihu has also presented activities that will be held in honour of “16 days of activism for eliminating violence against women”, which have begun with the display of the plaque before the City Theatre, “The implementation of the standards: ” change of mind, which aims to convey the message that violence should never be used against women.
Otherwise, the Committee on Gender Equality in this municipality has repeatedly encouraged women to present cases of domestic violence.
