France's Minister of Internal Affairs Christophe Castaner today accused <x0-bands” and “gangsters” of violence that had occurred the day before during demonstrations for marking the first anniversary of the anti-government protests of the yellow “”.
We saw some protesters (legitimations) yesterday, but more thieves, rapists and idiots”, Castaner told Radio Europe 1.
Protesters set fire to cars and attacked members of police with stones and bottles, who fired tear gas and cannons during a rally marking the anniversary of the “birth of the antigovernmental movement of yellow vests”.
Throughout France, police have arrested 264 people, 173 of them in Paris, Minister Castaner said.
About 28,000 people demonstrated in France on Saturday, including 4,700 in Paris, as 282,000 had protested on November 17, 2018.
