The World Football Federation (FIFA) has permanently banned Brazilian football official Ricardo Teixeira from participating in football-related activities due to the receiving of millions of dollars in bribes, the Anadolu Agency (AA) broadcasts.
FIFA said Teixeira has been found guilty of taking bribes in terms of commercial contracts for South American competitions from 2006-2012. He was fined $1m of Swiss francs (1m), but it is not clear how FIFA can implement the payment.

The indictment was announced four years after Teixeira was indicted by US federal authorities on charges of extortion, fraud and cleansing. He has avoided extradition to the US.
Teixeira is former Ambassador to FIFA Joao Havelande, while a member of the FIFA Executive Committee for nearly two decades until he resigned in 2012, citing health reasons.
