Although no official reason for withdrawal has yet been given, a source within the Hungarian public broadcaster reportedly has said they have withdrawn due to the enmity of Eurovision ties with LGB+.
A pro-government commentator described Eurovision as a “gay float” and said the country's mental health would be better if they did not participate, writes Independent, translate Periscope.
A source within the MTVA, which is Hungary's public broadcaster [our RTK Albanian] who usually holds song contests in which the winner goes to present the country at Eurovision, told The Guardian newspaper: “I am not surprised. This comes from the organizational culture of television. ”
