Albin Kurti warns special prosecutors: Judgment and punishment of war criminals is a duty, you cannot stand passive.

The future prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has today recalled the adoption of a change in the Penal Procedure Code on May 30th of this year. This code has enabled Kosovo's justice system to launch processes, file charges, examine cases and condemn war criminals, even when they are in absentia.
Kurti has said that still after six months the Special Prosecutor has not launched investigations and charges against massacrers of the Kosovo people.
“6 months ago, on 30 May, the Kosovo Assembly approved changing the Penal Procedure Code, enabling Kosovo's justice system to launch processes, file charges, review cases and condemn war criminals, even when they are in absentia. We rejoiced when this law was amended because Kosovo was finally following Croatia's example, gaining the right to persecute war criminals wherever they are, not just within our borders. Some of their names are known publicly because survivors of victims' families are still alive”, he wrote.
But the special prosecution is silent. Why haven't the investigation and the charges started? Why are the massacrers of our people not yet brought before the court of judgment? Why isn't there today a conference of their media where they publicly report their work in these six months?
Kurti has said special prosecutors cannot continue to remain as passive in this case.
The trial and condemnation of war criminals is a duty, not only in front of our nation, but in front of all humanity. Special prosecutors cannot continue to be passive about this”, he has said.
