In this Forum, Interior Minister Ekrem Mustafa before those present has talked about topics such as migration, terrorism and organised crime.
In this case, Minister Mustafa said managing migrants' flows, fighting smuggling with migrants and integrated border management is a top priority, but also a key challenge at the same time.
“The change in migration movements that have influenced the growth of migrants and refugees in the Western Balkans has also been reflected in Kosovo. During this year there are 1,000 and 600 migrants who entered Kosovo territory or 300 per cent more than last year”, Minister Mustafa said.
He announced that so far Kosovo has had sufficient capacities for treating all migrants, in line with international standards for protecting human rights and conducting necessary procedures.
As for the issue of terrorism, Minister Ekrem Mustafa said the Government of Kosovo is committed to strengthening co-operation with all states of the region indiscriminately and contributing to the efforts of the region, the European Union and the Global Alliance against I The SIS in preventing and fighting violent extremism and terrorism.
Violent extremism and terrorism continue to remain one of the major domestic and global security threats. Efficient response to terrorism requires the involvement of all states, international law enforcement agencies, civil society, but also citizens”, Minister Mustafa said.
Meanwhile, on the third topic, organised crime, he said that one of the top priorities for 2020 is building capacities for the most effective implementation of new laws, but also strengthening the concept of intelligence-led police, integrated financial investigations and combating money laundering.
Also, commissionors Dimitris Avramoopoulos, Western Balkan Interior Ministers and several EU agencies, such as EUROOPOL, EUROJUST, FRONTEX, EMCDDA and EASO, are participating in the forum.
