Donald Trump has defended his decision to withdraw American troops from Syria and allow Turkish offensive against Kurdish fighters who were backed by the US in the region, adding that Kurds had not fought side-by-side in World War II.
The American president told reporters that Kurds “didn't help us in World War II, they didn't help us in Normandy, for example, they mentioned names of different battles, but they were never there”, he commented, surprising the American opinion.
