When you hear the word “Halloween”, you immediately notice a fun evening where children should dress as their favorite character, whether that monster or hero and then wander around the neighborhood collecting candy, every house.
The truth about the last day of October is that it was once a religious holiday, and its roots are from Samhain's Celtic festival.
According to History, Samhain was the traditional end of summer and the beginning of the long and cold winter season.
Back then, people were prone to die more often in winter, so there was also a belief that on the day between the time of life and the time of death, the border between the real world and the dead was thin and could be passed by souls.
People lit fires to keep ghosts away, but somehow they celebrated in the presence of the next world!
But there was nothing wrong with the Celtic Samhain festival.
It was just a way for people to feel like they had a small measure of control over a world that could be cruel and often terrible.
