The 84-year-old was driving in the centre of the Croatian capital, he was hit by another car.
Croatia's former successor has refused to go to hospital, even though he had suffered severe head and arm injuries.
He later went to the ambulance where he was treated for injuries. His vehicle is severely damaged.
