There is a huge misunderstanding about how promotions in office function in our economy. For the most part, people assume that promotional increases are the result of time. The more time you spend in a company, the more likely you are to grow in office.
As my mother said of practicing the piano, I don't care if you practice for ten minutes or ten hours until you've done it right. ”
Every boss, manager or owner does not base his decisions on growing in office or raising your salary just because you've been working at the company for some time. That may be one more reason, but it is not absolutely the determining factor.
Here's what's required of you in order to increase your duty:
How often do you move the stones and how much?
The promotions really do not have to do with the increase of payment. They're “green” for you to take more responsibility. More responsibility doesn't mean you're the chief of people around you. More responsibility means that when things go wrong, you're the one on fault and is responsible for fixing it.
When you're growing up in office, you seem to go from the lowest category to the highest. If you don't do this job well, you'll find yourself out. The promotions are based on results.
Which means, if you want a promotion, all you have to do is show your values. Each company has its own measurements of success. How much does it affect you? By that I don't mean, I was in the room when this happened”. You really didn't do anything. I mean, did you fix things? Do you have a contract with the client? Did you succeed in your work?
People who move stones and help the team achieve these things for success, faster and more effectively, increase in office.
In achieving the goals of success, what was your attitude?
Despite popular belief, being good at what you do is only half the equation. The other half is how you do what you do and how you make others feel in the process.
Do you help others to perform in a higher standard? Or do you take them off and negatively influence team morality?
The way you achieve your goals is a major indicator that sets your fate on certain companies. A company is a team and a bad apple (no matter how talented) can destroy overall performance.
Will you abuse your leadership's privileges once you achieve them?
And eventually, no real leader wants to promote someone for any kind of leadership position they think will misunderstand or misuse their new status.
Being a leader has little to do with the title that you wear and everything that has to do with how you take your steps. People do not follow false promises, or big dreamers, who have no action to benefit the company. They follow people who are not afraid to do things with their own hands to show others how everything is done.
Leaders don't want selfish sitting around them. They want the opposite. They want strateg, people who create an impact and understand that to effectively lead with instructions, you have to live with these instructions first.
It is surprising how many people expect to grow in office or have more opportunities simply because it has been a long time “. ”
I've never had that mentality, on any of the jobs or teams I've had. I have always believed that I should gain my way by promoting values through actions and results.
Stop judging your values according to the number of hours, months, or years you've spent at work. Instead, ask yourself how you can begin to move stones in the same quantity as the person whose position you want to have.
