US Special Envoy for the Balkans Matthew Palmer, said Kosovo should form the new government as soon as possible and return to the negotiating table with Serbia, because “koha is not on its side”.
Palmer spoke to an American Senate committee at a session dedicated to the Balkan region.
He said the United States encourages both Kosovo and Serbia to make concessions to reach an agreement on normalising relations.
Palmer also called on Kosovo to cancel the tax imposed on products imported from Serbia last year, which has also become a cause for interruption of talks.
In August, the US State Department named Palmer special representatives for the Western Balkans, with a mandate to help integrate the region into Western institutions.
Early this month, meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump has named Richard Grenelli special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Green is also an ambassador to Germany.
