Greek authorities have blocked about 7 tonnes of vegetables with high pesticide content coming from Albania.
The news has also been published by Greek media by the Fast Food Alarm System, a system for reporting food safety issues within the European Union.
According to Greek media, the amount of vegetables, peppers, pumpkins and tomatoes has been seized in early October, and after tests conducted on October 23rd have resulted in high chloryrifos content. (0.17 mg / kg pm)
The selection of 6,995kg of vegetables was made by food inspectors of the Regional Economic and Veterinary Directorate of the Piraeus Regional Unit, in co-operation with the Blegtoria Regional Centre.
The sequencing amount:
401 pepper boxes weighing 4,687kg
250 small pumpkin boxes weighing 1,751 kg
67 boxes of tomatoes weighing 557 pounds.
