Leaders of the biggest political groups in the European Parliament unanimously condemned the postponement of the decision for the EU to take new steps in the accession process of Western Balkan countries. <x)
“We have introduced into the Balkans doses of stability, because this is our responsibility”, warned today the leader of the European People's Party of the EP group, Manfred Weber.
He during the debate in the European Parliament praised that neither Northern Macedonia nor Albania have received the prospect they deserve.
We searched many of those places, and now the door closed in front of his face. We're losing credibility and this is serious”, Weber ordered.
He said in the fact that all leaders who come from the European People's Party at the summit in Brussels have provided support for enlargement, while French President Emmanuel Macron and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Ruthe, who belong to the liberal option, were “s against all”.
Peres Garsija from the ranks of European Social Democrats estimated that enlargement can only bring new <x0-seconds to the EU.
The accession of the Western Balkans will not only contribute to stability in the region, but also the stability of the entire EU”, Peres stressed.
The leader of the European liberal group, in which French MPs are found by the Macroni party, Dacian Ciolos said enlargement should remain in the heart of EU policy.
“We can't think Europe powerful, without being open to neighbours, especially to those who believe in it perhaps even more strongly than some member states”, Cipras added.
He stressed that “Europe must remain the engine of democratic reforms, while its door is open”.
European greens have probably had even tougher criticism of the French president because of the decision to block the opening of incriminating negotiations with northern Macedonia and Albania.
EEP Greens representative Philip Lamberts stressed the clear definition of countries from the Western Balkans to be placed in the EU.
The decision not to respect obligations undertaken by the EU, Lamberts assessed as the European Council's “serious mistakes and asked the Union to do real work if there is political will to do so.
If you remember, Immanuel Macroni greeted him as a great European. But in time we realized that it's neither great nor European”, concludo Lamberts.
The current heads of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, Donald Tusk and Jean Claudie-Yuncker, in their recent speech to the European Parliament stressed that the division of member states about new steps in the EU enlargement process is “the big error”. / A T S/
