According to the EU communiqué, released after the meeting, Moghrini and the leaders of the Western Balkans have reportedly exchanged their positions for relations between the EU and their countries, as well as for developments in the region.
“They showed disappointment over the European Council's decision not to open membership negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania, as well as agreed that European integration of Balkan countries continues to be the main strategic goal, as the common interest of the European Union and the region”, said in the communiqué.
In this context, Moghrin and Balkan leaders discussed what has been done jointly and has been achieved over the past five years. They also reflected on the common challenges that await them.
