The rights to his invention belonged to the company, and so far he had no right to take the profits. Professor Shanks said he felt relieved by the outcome, following a 13-year legal battle, writes the BBC, translates Periscopi.
While working for the Multinational University giant in Bedfordshire in 1982, Professor Shanks developed a new technology that measured glucose concentration in blood and other fluids.

Using plastic and glass chips from a toy of his daughter, he built the first prototype of what is already known as the filling device of the electrochemical capillaries. [ Footnote] ECFD.
Professor Shanks had first applied for compensation in 2006, but had lost every legal battle until he reached the Supreme Court.
Yesterday, the court unanimously ruled that Professor Shanks' discovery had given the company “a tremendous benefit” for which he should receive compensation. /Periscope
