The British Embassy in Kosovo has launched its project to strengthen the justice system in Kosovo. It was said that the system will be empowered in terms of recruits, advances, appointment of staff leaders, and performance assessment.
Britain's Ambassador Nicholas Abbott said this project testifies to his state's commitment to an independent system of justice in Kosovo.
The British diplomat stressed that three elements, recruits, the appointments of the governing staff, and performance assessment must be taken into account.
This proves once again the embassy's commitment to being a close partner to the justice system in Kosovo. My country has an interest in supporting Kosovo on this road. This would enable our investors to invest in Kosovo. To reach the independent system of justice, three elements must be considered. The first recruits, the second appointments of staff leadership and assessment were performed. All three processes must be based on meritocracy and transparency. This would enable efficiency in the resolution of correct subjects and actions. Judges should have the opportunity to show that they are modern-time patriots”, Ambassador Abbott said.
While the KDR leader, Skender Chocaj, speaking of this project, said he would ensure accountability and transparency within the judicial system.
“Objective is the aspect of recruiting and empowering by international standards. It is also important that by means of this project, judges will be trained in Britain”, Chocaj said.
As project director Steve Pitts told details about this project.
We've been collecting information for the first four months of our project. We have been asked to focus on 6 areas, appointments, advances, information assessments, accountability and transparency”, he said.
The British Embassy is implementing this project through its implementing partners Axiom International and Agencia Limited and in co-operation with the Kosovo Judiciary Council.
