The 12 accused who will respond first are members of the Government Commission for recognition and Verification of the Status of Veterans. Agim Ceku, Nuredin Lushtaku, Sadik Halitaj, Shumbin Demalijaj, Qele Gashi, Shukri Buja, Ahmet Daku, Rrustem Berisha, Faik Fazliu, Smajl Elezaj, Xhavhi's Fadil Shudray, have received invitations from Special Prosecutor.
One of the accused is a commission member, Xhavit Jashari. He has confirmed for Kosovo that tomorrow at 10:00, the investigation will begin against 12 indictees, where they will be formally identified with charges the prosecution charges.
It's been sent to us by 10:00. I think this is a political and media show. I'm not the one who recognized someone's right to the vet. However, the prosecution has seen it this way, I am willing to respond to justice organs at any time and at any moment. And I absolutely don't care about this case. It's a political game. They put my name in there, they know why they named it”, he said.
As for allegations of huge veterans' lists, even though it was on the commission, Jashari denies having had a hand in the process.
“Can't organization veterans with days on this issue, because I know full of veterans who haven't received cards and are not members of the association. I was on the commission, but the ones who knew the right are the commanders of the districts, starting with Istog. They knew who they had soldiers, because I can't even know 0.1 percent of how many soldiers he had. I absolutely don't know, even though I've been on commission”, it's over.
In September of last year, the Special Prosecutors filed charges against 12 former members of the Government Commission for recognising the Status of KLA Veterans. The Special Prosecutor accuses them of misusing official office or authority.
The court had returned this indictment for improvement and clarification to the Special Prosecutor, arguing that the fact of the criminal act was confused and thus prevented the possibility of fair prosecution without procrastination and obstruction of the process. /Periscopi
