Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has met Sami Lushtaku, who at the weekend returned from The Hague, where he was interviewed by the Special Court.
Thaci writes on Facebook:
Today I met fellow KLA warrior Sami Lushtaku, who has made a valuable contribution to the country's freedom and independence. We are proud of the past, we believe in the future! HTH
Otherwise, Thaci had met Mustaf Rrustem Remi and Sami Lushtaku even before they left for The Hague.
I am aware that many injustices have not been answered -- neither by local justice nor by international justice -- such as the Serbian state's killing of 13,500 Albanian civilians, the committing of 400 massacres, the violation of 20 thousand Albanian women, thousands of Albanians still undiscovered, ethnic cleansing of over one million Albanians.
But I can say with full conviction that crimes do not get old and those responsible will be brought to justice.
Kosovo believes in purity of the KLA war, believes in justice.
Going to interview KLA generals Sami Lushtaku, Rrustem Mustafa, superiors and fellow fighters, testifies once again to the nobility and justice of the Kosovo people and the KLA's war.
As your fellow fighter and president of the country, I have full confidence in the values we have fought for. We jointly won many battles, freedom and independence from Kosovo. Together we will be proud to win our next challenges.
Your example in responding to the invitation of Specialised Chambers best testifies that Kosovo freedom fighters do not shake any kind of stigmatic claim. All the other guests for the interview once again I invite them to respond positively to invitations from the Special Chambers.
At the time of existential chaos, you, with your courage and knowledge, made the impossible possible, the dream come true.
You are the national heroes of war, so you will always remain for Kosovo institutions and people”, Thaci wrote.
