strike continues in education-government still unanswered

They had joyfully awaited the second half anniversary. But the wishes for Kosovo students to sit in front of school banks will hardly be realised. That is because all country-level teachers have gone on strike one week now, urging the Government of Kosovo to change the Law on Salaries, increasing the cofficiency, resulting in wage increases.

The strike will continue Monday.

That's what SBASK's chairman, Nundman Jasharaj, has declared.

We will not withdraw from our demands for strike. Tomorrow we enter the sixth day of strike. So we're urging the Government to reflect and meet our demands. On the contrary we will not retreat, we will continue on strike”, he has declared.

He says the Bill on Salaries is discriminated against employees in education, where of the 11 potential cofficiency, education is located in the pre-end cofficiency.
We're saying the wage bill is corrected because it's degrading. We've been seeking to correct 30 percent of the entire education sector. Our reaction is reasonable when the drivers of the state have higher salaries than teachers”.

In addition, the United Trade Union's request for Education, Science and Culture and the Grand Council according to Jasharaj is to raise the cofficiency for education workers at least 30 per cent.

We pity our students and ask their families. But the government, the teachers should raise their salaries. As long as they're dealing with their salaries, they should also think about the teachers.

The number of workers in education, including educators and employees for whom it requires increased pay gap to 30 percent, is about 27 thousand. The average salary of primary and middle education teachers is between 420 and 440 euros. Until, the teachers' salary at universities is over 1,000 euros.

While the number of students in pre-university education institutions is about 370 thousand, 110 thousand is the total number of students.
