Why is the high amount of salt dangerous?
The human body needs salt to function properly. But a child's need for salt is up to one grams a day until the age of 1. These needs are met by breast milk or formula.
A child's kidneys are unable to process more salt than that. Adding salt would lead to severe kidney damage.
There are also evidence that increasing the amount of salt in childhood increases the chances of suffering from hypertension later.
Instead of adding salt to your baby's diet, try adding scentic ingredients that produce flavor but are also nutritious like various spices.
