Despite Fingers Jealousy looks beautiful, they're not good enough for hygiene and health. A new American research has recently found that gel in nails makes it harder to remove bacteria and other microorganisms from your nails when you wash your hands. A problem that should not be underestimated, especially if you work in the health sector.
Dangers related to poor hygiene
The study is conducted in a hospital, a context in which hygiene, in particular regarding hands, can cause very serious problems: Some studies have shown, for example, that artificial nails carry a greater proportion of bacteria compared to natural ones, and in the past have also been linked to epidemics within health facilities, and that is why they have been banned by doctors and nurses in many US hospitals.
The Experiment in Three Hospitals
The researchers asked the staff of three American hospitals to undergo an experiment by applying one gel on the fingernail and one traditional manicure to another, to control the bacterial load before and after washing hands. After analyzing more than 700 samples of researchers have found that the bacterial load of nails tends to increase over time, but in the case of gel manicure it is higher than those of traditional nails.
Other Dangers
However, there are other dangers to consider if you decide to use gel on your nails. After only 12 gel apps, used UV light damages hand tissues, potentially risk factors for tumor development.
You should know.
Take appropriate measures, such as applying UV filters to your hands before passing through UV light.
