Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti has announced that the workers of this municipality today have held a general strike.
This strike comes after workers' demands for salary increases under the argument that they are overworked.
Ahmeti has written on Facebook that this strike comes after PSD deputy Albanian Pantina's request for wage levels.
The “Pristina municipality workers today have organised a general strike, demanding salary increases. The Pristina municipality does not specify the level of salaries, so these demands are directed to the government and to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo”, Ahmeti has said.
He demanded that the Pristina municipality, together with its workers, be distinguished from other municipalities.
The PSD's “Deputate, Shqipe Pantina, as a member of the commission, has demanded that the Pristina Community be distinguished from the level of other municipalities with salaries, due to specific status as the capital, but also because of the volume of jobs that is much higher compared to other municipalities, in any area”, Ahmeti said.
The request of the Pantina MP has been for the Pristina municipality to be treated as a minister. For the PSD proposal, Albanian Pantina and Rasim Selmanaj (AAK) have voted. They were all against the others, including P DK, LDK (Arban Abrashi and Imet Cantman) and LVV (Valon Ramadani)” wrote Ahmeti on his Facebook profile. /Periscopi
