Many hours of child electronics can cause increased speech and socialization delays. A Canadian study has reached that conclusion, where some 2,500-year-olds have been monitored. This study adds to the debate over how many hours before electronic equipment is safe for children. In Canada and the United States, experts say children should not be in contact with electronic devices before they can fill at least 18 months.
What has the new study revealed?
During 2011-2016, mothers were surveyed on the use of electronic devices and filled out a form for children's skills and development of 2, 3 and 5. Besides using computers, tablet, telephone, or any other electronic - screen equipment, this includes watching television programs, movies, or video games. By the age of 2, children stayed on average 17 hours a week in front of electronic devices. That figure increased by 25 hours a week at the age of 3, and it dropped to 11 hours a week at the age of 5, when the child too begins preschool education.
How many hours are there before electronic devices?
The study does not recommend how many hours a child can use electronic devices. In instructions from the American Association of Pediatrics, it says: For your child under 18 months, you must avoid any electronic devices and even video conversations. Parents of children who want to get acquainted with new technologies should choose high-quality programs and use these devices together so that the child can understand what he sees. For children aged 2-5, limit your use of electronic devices to 1 hour a day with high quality programs. Again, parents must be close to their children. For children over six years of age, you need to set firm limits, ensuring that electronic devices will not affect your child's physical activity and sleep.
