Civil society representatives have called on Kosovo's Parliament to approve the Bill on the 2019 budget within deadlines, which after principle approval on December 21st, has remained untested and voted for final approval.
Agnes Haxhiu, Kosovo's Assembly work monitor from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), in a talk to Radio Free Europe, says Kosovo's Assembly is neglecting the review of the 2019 Budget Bill.
According to her, the Assembly has two months of regular timetable available to give final approval to this bill since the Government has prosecuted it in the Assembly. On the contrary, it points out, workers' salaries in the public sector are endangered, but also spending by budgetary organisations.
Otherwise, on the basis of legal procedures, if the budget has not been approved, the Assembly by a decision could authorise continued implementation of the Law on last year's budgetary division of fiscal years. Last year's budgetary division law, in no case, can continue to be implemented for longer than three months next year's fiscal year.
