Muharrem from Kamza, to make a living, collects recycling waste from garbage bins.
The 60-year-old calls this work. He says providing 300 bucks a day requires great effort. This is the case of a poor man who lives by neighbor's welfare. At the garbage can, he also takes the few foods he finds there.
When people go to work, throw away some garbage, anything, cans, bottles of soco... These supermarkets too cast a bunch of spinach or a cut. I take it, I wash it and consume it at the house”, shows the Muharrem.
For seven years, the elderly couple have lived without light and water. They say they will never be able to pay their obligations to the state, as the only income of this family is what Muharrem provides.
We only got three months of economic assistance. I've been out of light for eight years because I don't have the power to pay because I owe the state 4 million dollars. I've been without water for seven months. We're taking it to the neighbors that we're, like, two elders, this is our life”, says Muharrem.
Our whole body hurts, says the Muharrem's wife. Despite their situation, it seems that the state has never turned its attention to the Halili family.
